Lieutenant Colonel (GS) Martin Prokoph joined the German Armed Forces in 2002 and was commissioned as an officer in the Army Aviation Corps in 2005. He studied educational science at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich.

In 2013, he attended the staff officer course at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College in Hamburg. In 2015, he was selected to participate in the national General/Admiral Staff course at the same institution.

From 2017 to 2019, he served as G3 in the Cooperative Security Division at the NATO International Military Staff in Brussels. He then completed the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the School of Advanced Military Studies in Fort Leavenworth, KS, USA. Subsequently, he has been employed in the Central Affairs Department of the Army Headquarters.

Since August 2023 he is the country desk officer for the USA and Canada in the Policy Directorate of the German Ministry of Defense.

He has been a member of the CNSS since 2015 and its fourth deputy chairman since 2019.
